Capital Improvement Program
The MWMC completed construction of the community's regional wastewater facilities in 1984. These facilities were intended to serve the area until 2005. In order to meet increasingly stringent environmental regulations and our community's growing needs for wastewater collection and treatment, a comprehensive update to the original facilities was needed. Extensive planning was done and input from consulting engineering firms was incorporated to create the 2004-Facilities Plan.
The projects in the Facilities Plan include improvements to wastewater pump stations, enhancements to existing primary and secondary treatment facilities for further improving the quality of treated wastewater, and the expansion of existing facilities, such as pretreatment and solids removal. These improvements will help us handle peak wet weather flows more efficiently than ever. The Plan also includes projects for even better odor control and a safer disinfection system.
